Büyükada Mosque Project

Büyükada Mosque Project

We believe that the mosque, which is planned to be built in Büyükada, which is the pearl of a big city that has guided the civilizations for centuries, must have a symbolic structure in accordance with the structure and history of the city and the region.

The concept of symbolism must be compatible with the region rather than a high-rise, gothic style. For this purpose, we used the 8-pointed star, which is an important symbol of Seljuk architecture.

Büyükada Mosque Project

One of the main figures of Seljuk culture and art, the 8-pointed star is used in ancient civilizations and the Islamic world in the Middle East. The octagon (octagonal), a form between the square and the circle, symbolizes the transition phase of the connection between the earth and the sky. The sun’s rays come to the world in about 8 minutes, and in this respect the number 8 is considered the number of cosmic equilibrium.

The 8-pointed star, one of the main figures of the Seljuk culture and art, has been widely used in ancient civilizations in the Middle East and in the Islamic world. In addition, it is stated that in religious sources, Islam is based on 8 principles, which are called 8 heavenly gates against 7 hell, and 8 square stars symbolize 8 heaven.
